The "CCBMA Man of the Year Award" was presented to Mr. Claude Parrish

Nov. 9th - The "CCBMA Man of the Year Award" was presented to Mr. Claude Parrish.

During the meeting at the Sportsman's Lodge, almost 100 coin dealers, California legislators, businessmen and Board of Equalization staff watched Barry Stuppler, president of the CCBMA, present Claude Parrish, member of California's Board of Equalization, with the CCBMA's most prestigious award.

For the past two years the California Coin & Bullion Merchants Association has been aggressively opposing legislation proposed by California's pawnbrokers. This legislation would dramatically change the way dealers within California buy or sell numismatic material. A 30-day holding period, the fingerprinting of sellers and electronically reporting of the seller's personal information to the state are some of the restrictive measures in this proposed legislation. With the help of Claude Parrish, Carl Brakensiek, CCBMA lobbyist and ICTA's Diane Piret and Mr. Stuppler representing the numismatic dealers of California, potential laws that would negatively affect the entire numismatic community have been stopped.

Claude Parrish received CCBMA's "Man of the Year Award" for his continued support of the hundreds of small businesses in the state selling rare coins and precious metals. Mr. Parrish is a candidate for California State Treasurer in 2006, and has the support of millions of small business people and taxpayers throughout the state.

Barry Stuppler, president of CCBMA, is seeking wide support from the entire numismatic industry to defeat AB1178, the detrimental pawnbrokers legislation that is scheduled for a vote by California Assembly in January of 2006.
